The "Cheer To SErve" Initiative

Through the Cheer to Serve Initiative, the Hot Shots All Star Dream Team has added “team building through team service” as a key component of holistic athlete and team development.  The team-based service assumptions are clearly defined: 

· Learning to serve together as a team builds better servants.

· Better servants become better teammates. 

· Better teammates build better teams. 

In the spirit of building better servants, teammates, and teams, the “Cheer to Serve Initiative” established three foundational team goals across both athletic and service development:

· Companionship 

(we’re ALL in this together)

· Humility 

(none of us is as talented as ALL of us)

· Co-development 

(teamwork makes the dream work)

The Hot Shots Dream Team Team participates in monthly "team building through team service" as volunteers at The Birthday Club, an open gym for children with special needs, siblings included.  Full attendance and participation is both expected and mandatory.  At the midpoint of their 2025-26 competitive season, collectively, the Dream Team has worked with more than 150 special needs families, volunteering more than 600 hours in "team building through team service" with others in the Greater Rome community.
